In the month of March, God is realigning belief systems and showing people how He is a Good Provider. He is teaching His people to pray in partnership with Him–His kingdom come, His will be done. He is leading people on a journey of healing and forgiveness. God is good in every season. It’s time to fix your eyes on Him and His nature and allow Him to lead you anew.
Worthy of Provision
“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?”
Matthew 6.28-30
About five years ago, I took a giant leap of faith and started acting school. It seemed clear to me that I was following the Holy Spirit. But suddenly, all of my resources dried up. Literally door after door after door kept slamming in my face. In the middle of this, I broke my foot and lost every ounce of income. I was incredibly frustrated. I kept leaning into the Lord, seeking counsel, and desperate for a change. Okay, let me be honest…my leaning into the Lord looked at lot like raging at Him, “why aren’t you showing up for me?!”
At one point, after praying and crying yet again, the Holy Spirit started highlighting lies that I had been believing that kept provision from consistently coming into my life. The Holy Spirit revealed four lies I was believing that were barricading provision from life. The first lie is what I want to share with you today: “Because you believe you are unworthy of being consistently provided for, you barricade provision from your life. You believe you must earn everything when I want to simply give to you out of my abundance.”
The moment the Holy Spirit spoke this, I recognized it as true. I had adopted an identity of unworthiness, therefore I struggled to receive. I repented of this belief and picked up the new one the Holy Spirit was offering to me, “you are worthy of being provided for not because you earned it but because you have been adopted into my family. You are a daughter of God.”
About a month after this encounter, the doors of provision burst open in my life and I started receiving unexpected income from multiple directions. But God wanted to produce a breakthrough in my heart before He gave me a breakthrough in my circumstances.
God calls us worthy to be taken care of and provided for simply because we’re children of God, not because we earn it. Right now, God is doing an identity transplant on many of His people. It’s time to let go of the shame complex, the unworthiness language, and step into the knowledge that you are a beloved child of God, paid for with a high price. Because of this, you now have access to the King’s courts, to the abundance that is in Christ Jesus…you are worthy of being fully loved and provided for, because you are in the family of God. Allow God to show you where you’re believing lies and to replace them with the truth. Bring him your “provision pain,” the fears and heartache around not being taken care of and provided for in the past. And ask to create a new story with Him about provision that is rooted in the truth. Ask Him, “How would you like to provide for me, Lord?” The pressure isn’t all on your shoulders, rather you are in partnership with Him. It’s time to step into a new way of operating.
Powerful Intercession
“This, then, is how you should pray:
‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.'"
Matthew 6.9-10
Intercessors get a bad rap. Moody, stressed, always anxious about something happening in the world and demanding everyone pray. At least this is the stereotype. However, in actuality, intercession is meant to be an experience of agreeing with what’s on God’s heart and intercessors are meant to be full of joy. True intercession is rooted in relationship, it’s praying like Jesus, “your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” True intercession comes from spending time with the Father and learning “what does God want to do on the earth?” And then partnering with God in agreement.
When we experience the Father’s heart, we can pray from a place of joy and from overflow. We get a glimpse of His perspective and what he wants to do. Therefore, our prayers become filled with His authority. We are not praying for our will but His. Intercession is NOT bringing God a laundry list of demands, your own agendas, or all the things going wrong in the world. Rather, intercession is accessing God’s heart and releasing His heart on earth. The most powerful prayers come when we are operating in full surrender to His Spirit.
God is raising up joyful intercessors who are connected to His heart and who are releasing His will on the earth. He is bringing people to a place of deep intimacy with Him. If you’re longing to pray with authority, this is for you. Take time to praise Him and connect to God first and foremost. Surrender YOUR agenda and ask God for His agenda. When we spend time with Him, He shows us what His desires are and brings our desires into alignment with His.
Processing Pain & Forgiveness
"And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”
Mark 11.25
Many years ago, I, Katelyn, had an encounter with God. In this encounter, the Holy Spirit showed me an area of pain that I couldn’t seem to get over. “God,” I prayed, “I’ve already forgiven this situation. Why is it still so painful?” The Lord responded, “You haven’t ever processed this pain. Rather, you have attempted to mask pain with forgiveness, which is like putting a bandaid on a giant wound.” The moment the Holy Spirit spoke this to me, I knew He was correct. I spent the next few hours crying over the areas of hurt and injustice I’d experienced. I experienced a lot of anger at how I’d been treated. For the first time, I allowed myself to feel anger at how I’d been wronged.
After I had cried and raged, the Holy Spirit asked me, “would you like to hold them accountable for their actions? Do you want them to pay the price for how they’ve hurt you?” Suddenly, I saw this person in their brokenness and humanness, navigating their own hurts and inadvertently hurting others. I saw them as a little child, struggling to figure things out. I was filled with compassion. “No,” I prayed, “I want to forgive them.” A flood of healing came rushing in and I was able to forgive from my heart, not just with my words.
When we invite the Holy Spirit into our places of pain, He will lead us through healing. He will lead us through pain and into healing and forgiveness. Forgiveness is a pivotal part of healing. Unforgiveness keeps us bound more than it harms the other person. But it isn’t a mask and it was never meant to keep you from processing pain, experiencing anger, or setting healthy boundaries. Rather forgiveness is part of the healing process along with processing pain.
Here are a few keys to processing pain with God:
-
First, invite the Holy Spirit into your process.
-
Journal through your emotions. If it’s helpful, you can find an emotions wheel online and name the emotions coming up.
-
If someone has wronged you, write a letter you never send. In this letter, be super honest and candid about how they’ve hurt you. Put all your feelings on paper with no filters. This is for you to get your feelings out. Then, you can do as I did, and ask God to see them how He sees them. When you’re ready, forgive.
-
Feel the emotions without running away from them in a safe space and for a designated time (even if it’s five minutes) and then move on. If you’re afraid the feelings will overpower you, giving yourself a boundary can be helpful.
-
Talk to a therapist. We are strong advocates for therapy as therapy can often give us tools to process painful situations, trauma, or big emotions in a safe space.
-
Inner healing ministries are sometimes like setting a bone or surgery.
-
Whereas, therapy can be pivotal in helping you walk out your healing. It’s often like having surgery, then going to physical therapy to retrain your muscles.
-
Talk to a trusted faith-filled friend
-
Talking about a situation reduces shame, shame grows in the dark. So let the light in.
This journey is part of walking in restoration and wholeness. If areas of hurt are coming up right now, it may be that God is highlighting an area of pain in order to bring you into healing and wholeness. If you’ve been wronged or felt stuck, unable to break through, ask the Lord if this is for you. Ask Him to highlight any areas where you need healing and process these painful moments with Him.
God’s Goodness Isn’t Up for Debate
For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.
2 Timothy 4:3-4
Years ago, I experienced a devastating disappointment. Something I had been hoping and praying for for years was delayed…again. I had gotten my hopes up and felt absolutely crushed when it didn’t happen. I remember sitting in the middle of a church service, having a conversation with God.
“God,” I prayed, “up until this point, I have always thought that your goodness was dependent on my circumstances. When things are good for me, then you must be good. When things are bad for me, then you must not actually be good. I’m no longer going to see you that way. Your goodness is no longer dependent on my circumstances. Instead, I will choose to believe that you are good because you are good.”
This was a defining moment in my life. A line in the sand moment. An “I’m never going back to my former way of operating” moment.
When we’re in the thick of it or in the middle of pain, it can be easy to create a theology about why this is happening. God isn’t really good. Suffering is part of God’s plan. You sinned therefore bad things are happening to you. However, it’s important that we don’t create a theology that isn’t rooted in the truth of God’s Word. We can reduce God to our own understanding if we try to define Him by circumstances. In the middle of pain, it can be easy to let pain create your narrative.
It’s important to pick up and hold onto the belief that God is good no matter what. He is faithful. He is constant. He is unchanging. He is kind. Pain doesn’t get to write your story, God does. Therefore, go to God in the middle of hardship. Seek His face. Look to Him. Get in the Word of God. If we allow circumstances to create a story about who God is, then we’re basing God’s nature on shifting sands. We must come back to the truth of who He is according to the Word of God.
Right now, God is leading people to the truth. He is inviting us to turn aside from theology just because it makes us feel good, justifies sin, or validates one of our current beliefs. Instead, lean into God’s Word and recognize that you won’t have perfect understanding. Embrace mystery and the fact that God’s ways are higher than your ways, His thoughts are higher than your thoughts. Keep trusting Him even when you don’t understand or have the answers you want. Bring Him your questions, but keep believing that He is good. No matter what.
At The Crowning Jewels, it's our desire and our mission to bring encouragement, to build others up, and to bring comfort to people’s lives (1 Corinthians 14.3). Each month, our founder, Anne Jackson, and our main writer, Katelyn Alexander ask the Lord what He’s doing in the coming month and for any words of encouragement He might have for His people. We believe that prophetic words need to be encouraging and edifying. Moreover, with a corporate prophetic word, not all words are applicable to all people. If our words bless you, please take hold of them and apply them in your own life. If it’s not specific to you, please pass it on to someone else who might be blessed.
As always, the prophetic is a free gift from heaven and will always be something we freely share. As a prophetic business, it’s our mission to bring encouragement and edification to people through the free gift of prophecy, with our product being jewelry.
We at The Crowning Jewels believe in the absolute, transformational power of declarations. We know that truth comes by hearing (Romans 10.17), and speaking truth is an active way for us to renew our minds (Romans 12.2). We invite you to partner with what God is doing and say these declarations for the remainder of the month. We would love to hear what God does! Please email us your testimony at hello@thecrowningjewels.com.
