VICTORY | No Longer Passive
During my prayer time these past few weeks, I could see an army of angels marching and hear the holy reverence of their worship. One resounding charge has been on repeat: “Wake up! Rise up! The battle belongs to the Lord!”
And I kept coming back to one word: VICTORY.
Not victory as the world defines it. Not a life without opposition or difficulty. And certainly not victory we have to strive for in our own strength. I'm talking about the victory Jesus has already won.
We are not fighting FOR victory. We are fighting FROM it.
The atmosphere is changing quickly, my friend, and I sense a strong call to wake up. Not in fear, anger, or striving, but in faith.
Please hear my heart: We were never called to be passive participants in the Kingdom of God. I've had to learn this right along with you. The noise and nonsense of the enemy can cause us to retreat if we're not careful. But Jesus made the enemy's intentions clear: to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10).
But God!
He calls us to abide in Him, stand firm in His truth, pray without ceasing, and walk in step with the Holy Spirit as citizens of Heaven. So perhaps the question for November isn't simply, *“What am I believing God for?”*
Perhaps it's also: “Am I living daily like I believe what Jesus has already done?”
Victory Is Our Starting Position
“But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” — 1 Corinthians 15:57
Think about David facing Goliath. David didn't place his confidence in his own strength or ability. He knew the God he served was greater than the giant standing before him.
Through His death and resurrection, Jesus conquered sin and death. His victory is not uncertain, unfinished, or dependent upon our ability to fight hard enough.
It is finished.
But His finished work was never an invitation to become passive. Jesus has given His followers authority in His name, and we have a responsibility to exercise that authority through prayer, obedience, and standing firm in His truth.
We cannot keep surrendering ground to an enemy Jesus has already defeated.
Church, it's time to rise up! We are not powerless spectators watching darkness unfold around us. We are citizens of Heaven, called to be salt and light here on earth. The battle belongs to the Lord, but that does not mean we abandon our position.
We have been given authority, but we must choose to walk in it.
Prayer Is Not Passive
“The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” — James 5:16
There are prayers we carry for minutes, days, and others we carry for years. Some are answered immediately. Others unfold differently than we imagined. And some we're still waiting to see answered.
I've been thinking about this since returning from Kenya. My mom has been walking through a difficult battle with terminal cancer, and recently, three generations of our family traveled across the world to fulfill her bucket-list dream. I can hardly put into words what God did.
We attended church on Sunday when we arrived, saw every animal we had hoped to see, and met the family of my mom's Swahili teacher, who have now become family to us. Every experience carried another reminder of God's goodness.
Day after day, I found myself saying, “Only God could have arranged something this beautiful.”
And yet, the circumstances we had been praying about hadn't changed. My mom was still battling cancer. We were still believing for healing. There were still unknowns waiting for us at home. But God was moving in ways I couldn't have imagined.
We can still be waiting for one miracle while standing in the middle of another.
Sometimes we're so focused on the miracle we're waiting for that we almost miss the miracles unfolding right in front of us. Prayer isn't simply about receiving the answer we desire. It's about our relationship with God, surrendering our expectations, listening for His direction, and allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us.
Prayer should not be our last resort, but our first response. And it doesn't end when we say amen. We are called to intercede, not merely observe. When we see darkness, we pray for His light. When we see division, we intercede for reconciliation. When we see injustice, we pray for righteousness and courage to act faithfully. We have been given the Holy Spirit, the Word of God, and the authority of Jesus Christ.
It's time to wake up, rise up, and use what He has entrusted to us!
Return. Realign. Restore.
“I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten…” — Joel 2:25
As we enter the final two months of this year, I've been thinking about the things we ask God to restore. Lost time. Missed opportunities. Broken relationships. Dreams we've set aside.
Joel 2 reminds us of God's restoring power, but it also carries an invitation to return to Him wholeheartedly. I wonder if some of us have become so focused on asking God to restore what was lost that we've overlooked His invitation to realign what remains. Restoration isn't always about recovering what we once had. Sometimes it begins with returning to the One who makes us whole.
Are we asking God for direction while ignoring His conviction? Praying for peace while holding on to offense? Believing for change while resisting what the Holy Spirit is asking us to surrender?
This isn't condemnation. It's an invitation.
We cannot ask God to restore what was lost while continuing to give the enemy access to what remains.
It's time to close the doors we've left open. Return to prayer. Repent where the Holy Spirit brings conviction. Forgive where we've held on to offense. Stand on the Word of God and refuse to partner with fear. Ephesians 6:13 calls us to put on the full armor of God so we can stand our ground. James 4:7 reminds us to submit ourselves to God and resist the devil.
Notice the order: Submission comes before resistance.
Habakkuk 3:19 reminds us that the Sovereign Lord is our strength, giving us feet like a deer to walk securely on difficult heights. We are not called to retreat in fear or advance in pride. We are called to stand firm in Christ. The enemy does not get to dictate our response. The Holy Spirit does.
The battle belongs to the Lord, but He has not called His people to abandon their post.
